Elvis always loved the painting that I did for Johnny Mathis. He finally tracked me down in the 1970s where I had a studio at Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas. Precilla Presley told me years later when we were making the movie "Graceland" that it was the only portrait that he ever commissioned. The original still hangs in "Graceland" his home in Memphis. I painted a copy for myself years ago. My personal copy is available for acquisition.
In 1993, Michael Jackson commissioned Cowan to paint this wild painting of him in a suit of armour with a man-sized parrot peering over his shoulder and his monkey Bubbles at his feet. The painting was used in the background during his famous interview with Oprah Winfrey. It happened to be one of his favorite acquisitions. 90" x 48" oil on canvas
Johnny Mathis. This portrait was used for the cover of His album "Heavenly". The painting still hangs in his office in Burbank, CA. I still attend his performances whenever he is in town. He and I are still wonderful friends.
Marilyn Monroe, 40" circular oil on canvas.
Cowan met with Marilyn in New York and in the Hamptons where he did his preliminary sketches.
